Comic opera in 3 acts, Friday, March 18, 2022, at 20:30 at the Jean Vilar theater in Revin.
In a quiet and happy Swiss countryside, the presence of the tyrant Gesler begins to weigh on us. He demands more and more from his subjects. More money, more obedience and servility.
One day, he demands that everyone prostrate themselves before his hat on top of a pike.
To the old Melktal who refused, he had his eyes gouged out. To William Tell who refuses, he gives the choice of dying or submitting to a test: shoot an arrow through an apple placed on the head of Little Tell, his son.
HISTORICAL CHARACTER and FEDERATING MYTH
Bringing William Tell by André Grétry back to the stage, after Raoul Bluebeard in 2016 and Richard the Lionheart in 2018, is the Company's challenge for this new season.
This exceptional work, whose mythical figure exceeds the very framework of the genre of opera, deserves to be known on French opera stages.
Through its universal dimension, it allows us to confront our imagination by giving it a resolutely contemporary dimension.Duration
