On the heights of Vireux-Molhain, the legendary horse Bayart would have cleaved with its hoofes the mountain of Vireux.

In every legend there is a part of reality. What is the part of reality of this site ? Archaeological excavations have revealed traces of ancient habitats of the roman empire but also from the Middle Ages.
This site was a military fort, which allowed to keep watch over the Meuse valley. On this site was found a large number of objects, notably a magnificent horse head. Perhaps an homage to the Bayart horse ?
